Smartphones are one of the best inventions of the 21st century, especially for busy people. Like most smartphone users these days, our whole lives are on our phones. Important contacts, emails, bank details, calendars and more are all on these little pocket devices.
When it comes to getting our lives organized, we rely on reminders and notifications to prevent important tasks from being neglected. It is the little things like alarm clocks and calendar notifications that keep us on track.
For those of you that are in need of a bit of organizational help, you can use your smartphone to schedule important tasks by using the calendar feature on your phone. Regardless of if you have an android or iPhone, you can set reminders for the events of the day and even choose a time that you want the task to be started, and when it should be completed by.
Here is an example of a hectic day and how your smartphone can help you stay on track;
- 8:00 – dentist appointment
- 10:00 – meeting with virtual team
- 12:00 – brunch with Synthia
- 13:30 – regional directors meeting
- 16:00 – finish annual sales report
- 17:30 – water plants and keep an eye on the new rose succulents (FYI, rose succulents are so easy to care for, especially for the busy working person who likes a bit of greenery in the house. Follow this succulent care guide if you want to give it a go. I haven’t killed mine yet, so it must be good!)
- 19:00 anniversary dinner
So you see, not only can your smartphone act as a diary, it will ping or vibrate 15 minutes before the appointment starts (you can get the reminder to go off earlier than that if you need longer to prepare).
If you have a smartwatch, the notifications you set on your phone can show up on your smartwatch too. This is only possible if you’ve got a watch that can be connected to your phone via Bluetooth.
There is a difference between smartwatches and fitness bands, and it is often easy to get them confused. Fitness bands have a very basic watch face, track your fitness metrics and very rarely show mobile phone notifications.
Smartwatches have the ability to track your fitness statistics and act almost as a second phone. They have large watch faces that are touch screen and the newer models can even answer phone calls and send text messages.
If you utilize your smartwatch for all of its helpful features, you will find yourself taking less and less into the office with you as all of the information is on your phone. Result! It’s ok if you aren’t a massive tech wiz, not all of us are, but knowing what you can do with your smartphone is great just in case you come to need it.
