Post-doctoral Fellows in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 526042)
Two post-doctoral fellow positions have been established and funded as a component of the RGC Exploratory Theme-based Research Scheme (Dysregulated host-gut microbiota co-metabolism in metabolic associated fatty liver disease), as well as the New Staff Start-Up package. The successful candidate will work within Prof. Wei JIA's team to conduct metabolism-based pharmacological and translational research in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy.

Duties and Responsibilities
- conduct high quality research projects and deliver impactful research outputs in the area of gut microbiota – host metabolic interactions and/or metabolomics-based database development, data visualization, and analysis.
- obtain competitive research grants.
- provide quality supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and
- perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- a PhD or MD degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, or related disciplines.
- exceptional written and verbal English language proficiency.
- strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- proficiency in conducting independent research with high-level skills and capability.
- the ability to work under tight deadlines and adhere to project schedules.
What We Offer
Initial appointment will be offered with a temporary-term contract up to two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
