We are seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Registrar/Clinical Registrar/Staff Veterinarian - Small Animal Primary Care to join a team of outstanding world-class clinical colleagues at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. This position will be located at Camperdown campus with some travel expected to the Camden campus.

The primary care service is a core discipline in the training of the future leaders of the veterinary profession through a globally accredited training program, the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide high quality veterinary clinical service in the primary care service for clients of UVTHS
  • participate in provision of education to DVM students and continuing veterinary education provided by the unit through clinical service and sharing your experience with students
  • support students and nursing staff in decision making, and case management
  • participate in service in evening shifts and weekends, pending service requirements (premium loadings apply).

About you

The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Staff Veterinarian - Small Animal Primary Care who has:

  • a degree in veterinary science registrable in NSW (or equivalent)
  • a minimum of 12 months experience in small animal clinical practice
  • an ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • experience in teaching/coaching others desirable.
  • the ability to show initiative and manage competing deadlines
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills.

To be considered for the Clinical Veterinary Registrar (HE07) you must have membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists or equivalent in a relevant discipline or a Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline and/or have completed a residency program or similar advanced training but have not yet achieved specialist status.

To be considered for a Senior Clinical Veterinary Registrar (HE08) you must have more than 12 months experience following a residency program but have not yet achieved specialist status OR may have membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists or similar post graduate level qualifications as well as additional advanced training (eg Graduate Certificate research/ education) and have more than 12 months experience following that.
